welcome to the family literacy night or we will discuss the summer slide throughout the summer raffle tickets will be given for our back-to-school prizes students will receive raffle tickets for participation in our libraries program this summer also return your completed grade level packet in August at meet the teacher and you will also receive a tickets for our special raffle this Google Classroom was created to help families prevent the summer slide which is a summer loss of approximately 2 1/2 months in math and two months and reading to join our Google Classroom click your waffle you will find in an icon for Google classroom click join class enter the class code witches xcv to jnr now you will have access to our summer slide Google Classroom click classwork our Google Classroom begins with a pausing for good choices video this would be a great video for your children to look at as we head back the school especially for those students in K1 and to the next video is a 10 minute video that explains more about the science of reading screen time information is the next topic there is a PD that gives the recommendations for screen time for all ages there is also an interesting article for the five reasons to unplug the summer there are five resources in the math topic star addition subtraction multiplication flash cards that look like this but a quick search on YouTube lead you to other resources to practice your flashcards this summer Khan Academy for math looks like this there are also everyday math videos and the section for grade 1 and the National Library of virtual manipulatives is also a wonderful website for your child to enjoy next up is mrs. timko's Library information first off is the Pizza Hut book it code if you click that you will get to scan the code for that Riverside Library website and the AR book finder are located here message Pimco summer AR book tracker looks like this and finally mrs. timko has her grade level book list located here and she will be so excited for children to peek at her recommended list and visit this summer during Library hours if you are unable to visit during summer hours audio books have been uploaded in this section the grade level is located here and the A&R number is located here for access to more audiobooks click the virtual AR Google Classroom you can join this Google classroom and it will bring you to a Google Classroom that looks like this where you will find a host of uploaded audiobooks across various grade levels younger students there is a section for fine motor skills and writing these video show what pencil grip looks like some tips on spacing letter reversals usually phase out by second grade but these are also tipped if you would like to work on Journal writing with your child this summer there are writing prompts here for the younger students and for the older students there are Journal prompts located here under the topic of phonemic awareness are videos that show those skills for the younger students play Flyleaf Dakota Bulls are a fantastic resource under the science of reading resources there is a summer slide kick for parents which does involve a cause however the reading simplified Summer Challenge is free to join the fun patience level one and the Wonders grade 1 high frequency words the University of Florida website as a phenomenal website it will take you to resources that look like this students can also enjoy their spelling with a digital word work Matt finally for vocabulary and comprehension Anita Archer explains the value of a cabbie Larry the vocabulary list for tier 2 and 3 are located here at Pond Academy for all grade levels looks like this and finally list of resources for families under the Florida Center for reading and research also if you click for educators you can pick a grade level and there are a lot of wonderful activities for your families to enjoy the summer together thank you for taking this time to you are summer slide Google Classroom we wish you the absolute best summer vacation filled with wonderful
