What is Annual Student Information Verification?
Back in the day...
The days of receiving a stack of papers to complete in your child's backpack on their first day of school are in the past. Last year, Riverside dove into creating a process for online completion. Although, there were bumps along the way, we have tried to correct issues and make the process easier. Below are some tips to make the process successful.
What do I do if I don't have access to a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or the internet?
Although student verification can be completed on your phone, it is highly encouraged that you use a computer. If you must use your phone, you will need to log in via your phone's web browser, NOT the Skyward app. Using a phone is possible, but time consuming.
If you have no way of completing the forms otherwise, it is possible to make an appointment at the school to complete the process so that your child has access to their schedule. In addition, Chromebooks will be set up at all orientation sessions for parents who seek assistance in completing the process. Information will be coming soon regarding this possibility.
Step-by-step tips for completing STUDENT INFORMATION VERIFICATION
Before we begin, this is possibly the most important tip to use:
While navigating the verification process, please use the FULL SCREEN option at the top right hand corner to be sure you can see the entire form.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you don't see the tab with the word VERIFICATION in the title, please see the below possibilities. Do not go into the NSOE NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT tab. This tab is only for students who are NEW TO THE DISTRICT. Read on for the next steps.
Step 1 Student Information Overview-IMPORTANT
Even if your child's information does not require changes, you will need to click the EDIT button, then COMPLETE in order to receive a green check mark.
Step1 Student Information for Multiple Families
Only the person who logs into Skyward as Primary Guardian 1 is the login that can complete the first group of information in the steps. This does not mean to imply that all families and guardians are not equally important.
All guardians/families may go in under their own accounts (logins) to update their own information at any time during the school year. This verification process is only to ensure a smooth start to the school year until updates can be input. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Step 1 Address Change
If you've had a change of address within the District, please submit 2 acceptable forms of proof of residency to the District Enrollment Secretary, Mrs. O'Connell at [email protected] or in-person at the main offices. District staff will then notify First Student of the possible bus change.
Step 1 Emergency Contacts
It is absolutely necessary for each family to have a MINIMUM of two emergency contacts.
Step 2 Skylert
Most message alerts generated by the district (otherwise known as auto-calls) are done so in a voice format. Some important messages also go out as a text message (SMS). If you do not click the "approve" drop-down beside the SMS format/phone number, you will not receive text messages.
Health Office Forms
Medication & Emergency Procedure Consent - This required form enables district health offices to administer daily care for your child. It replaces the previous "blue cards" and relies on the information you've input under EMERGENCY CONTACTS.
Individualized Health Care Plan Form - This is an optional form that should only be completed for children who have a diagnosed medical condition that requires specific care. If your child does not require specific instructions to address a medical need, there is no need to enter this form.
Only for INCOMING FRESHMEN - When students enter grade nine, it helps our HS health office to have updated Health History Forms since the last one received may be as old as kindergarten age.
Ethnicity/Race Verification
This is an OPTIONAL form with an accompanying letter explaining that we are required to ask for this information.
Food Service Forms
Dietary Needs and Allergies - This required form is an acknowledgement that you received important information. This also contains a link to a document that allows parents/guardians to complete an official dietary plan for their child.
Free/Reduced Meal Application - This optional step is a link for parents/guardians to complete an application in the School Cafe website and is strongly encouraged for all families. Only one application should be completed for each HOUSEHOLD. Individual applications for multiple students in the same household should not be submitted.
Read-Only Documents
Documents such as the Acceptable Use Policy, HS, MS, and ELE Handbooks, and the Device Handbook embedded in the Insurance Form should be read and understood. For younger children such as new kindergarten students, parents/guardians should be sure to assist so they can complete their part and know their responsibilities as well as what to expect while they're at school.
Chromebook Handbook and Insurance Form
This form is required to be completed whether you plan to purchase the optional insurance for your district-provided Chromebook or not, as well as for those parents/guardians who plan to send a personal device to school in lieu of the district-provided Chromebook. There is a link within the form to pay by credit card on School Pay as well as directions for those who wish to pay by cash or check. Remember to click Cntrl+click for links.
Building Handbook & AUP Signatures
All drop-downs and questions must be answered every year by both the student and parent/guardian. As with all forms, typing your name is considered a digital signature and acknowledgement to the information chosen.
FAQs
As questions roll in, we will add to the list below.
WHY CAN'T I SEE MY CHILD'S INFORMATION WHILE I AM IN MY SKYWARD ACCOUNT?
Please check your browser to see if your pop-up blocker is enabled.
WHY DO THE LINKS NOT WORK WHEN I CLICK THEM?
Please try pressing and holding the CNTRL button before clicking on the link. The CNTRL button is on the bottom left of your keyboard.
WHY CAN'T I CLICK THE SUBMIT STUDENT VERIFICATION BUTTON IF I'VE GONE DOWN THROUGH AND COMPLETED THE STEPS?
Go to the last step and click it on the right-hand side. A screen will appear containing all outstanding items in red text. Complete the tasks printed in red. Go back to the last step on the right and click until every step has a time and date in black. Go to the BOTTOM of the screen and click SUBMIT.
PLEASE NOTE: When one of the steps is a pdf document you are to read, you must click EDIT then COMPLETE STEP to receive a green checkmark.
WHY DOES CERTAIN INFORMATION APPEAR IN GRAY AND I CAN'T EDIT IT?
2 Possibilities:
Fields of information that are "grayed-out" are read-only fields and not accessible to change, such as STUDENT NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, ADDRESS, and MAILING ADDRESS.
OR
When a field is gray and you feel you should be able to change it, check that you have clicked EDIT at the bottom of that form.
Why don't I see the Student Information Verification tab when I am logged in?
2 Possibilities
If you are listed as Family 2 you will not have access to the initial information. Only the person attached to the login for family 1, guardian 1 can complete the registration so that there is only one set of instructions in the event of a life-threatening emergency.
OR
Your login may have locked at a previous time which prompts specific settings to lock. When the account was unlocked, these settings were missed. If you are F1G1 and do not see the student verification tab, please contact the technology department for help.
