Obtaining Clearances

There is no cost for the state clearances:

• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
• Pennaylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
• Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) report - PDE ($22.60)

The length of time it takes to recieve your clearances is contigent upon the method used to apply for the clearances. Applying online will typically result in a faster turnaround time.  We encourage prospective volunteers to begin applying for their clearances as soon as possible.

Act 153 stipulates that clearances are good for 60 months from the effective date.  You can submit current clearances as long as they are less than three years old.
